Whether for fruit or flower production all plants need a pollinator, bees take care of this job when plants are out side, but with indoor plants we have to do it, q-tips work good for this job. Most hybrid plants do not produce seeds but still need to be pollinated to produce fruit or flowers. Happy pollinating !! ;-)

Hybrids often are not "sexual" and don't reproduce,, but are grafted. That is to create new plants for polination and for seeds, not for flower production. Or at least that is my understanding of them. The heirloom plants must be pollinated. I would imagine you can use q-tips to pollinate or that would be my guess. They are pollinated to reprodue or create fruit which are seeds, like tomatoes. The flowers are pollinated to create the fruit which bears seeds. But with hybrids, they are grafted onto roots, etc. and so they cannot reproduce. They bloom, but don't bear fruit with seeds and seeds are what reproduce.

I hope someone with more expertise can answer your question further as this is from just a little bit of knowledge and I am not a farmer or planter. I just like flowers and am curious.

Good luck to you.
