Container gardening indoors is becoming increasingly popular because it requires very little space. A lot of families have small yards and not enough space available to put in a garden. More and more families are living in condos, apartments and town homes, allowing for them to experiment and enjoy container gardening indoors. Families work hard in most cases both parents working full time jobs and indoor container gardening is easy and so much less time consuming as outdoor gardening. Not only is it convenient, but it saves then a lot of money and allowing them to feed their families healthier meals.

Container gardening indoors offers different options for choosing the proper container for your vegetables and herbs to grow in. Terra cotta pots are probably the most common, however, just your basic plastic works just as well. You can find these at any home and gardening stores in a variety of sizes. Other options include but not limited to are large buckets, plastic milk cartons, even wooden boxes as long as they are untreated. Whichever you choose, make sure there is sufficient amount of drainage to prevent overwatering and root rot.

Now that you’ve made the decision to start your own container gardening indoors and you’ve picked out the type of container that will work well for you, it’s time to decide on what kind of vegetables and herbs you will grow. You will want to think about growing the herbs and vegetables to be the same as what you purchase in the store. Not only will you save money, but you will be serving healthier food to your family.

Another hot craze is indoor container gardening. It is easiest to do starting with herbs and can be fun if you can provide the right amount of sunlight or have the right kind of indoor planting system with it’s own lighting.

Aerogarden is a becoming popular craze for container gardening indoors. Everything you need to grow your herbs and vegetables is provided and all you need to do is add the water. However, Aerogarden is not a cheap way to go if you are trying to save money as most of us are in today’s economy. If Aerogardening is they way for you, you can easily check it out on the internet.

Some people haven’t thought about starting container gardening indoors, thinking it’s not for them. But learning to grow your own vegetables and herbs indoors is such a great hobby and creates a more pleasurable cooking experience. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different herbs and vegetables, just enjoy the fresh ingredients your container gardens provide.
